OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE! Comikaze Expo to Host Pre-Event Party Supporting “Awkward Embraces” Web Series and Gamers United. Special Guest DJ Michelle Rodriguez

Los Angeles, Calif. (February 9, 2011)- The Comikaze Expo, along with Gamers United, will be hosting the “Awkward Embraces” Season 2 Premier Party at the Celebrity Vault Gallery in Beverly Hills on Feb. 18.

The Comikaze Expo, taking place on Nov. 5 and 6 at the Los Angeles Convention center, is the first-ever comic, sci-fi and fantasy expo to hit Los Angeles. As the first of many pre-event parties, Comikaze is proud to support “Awkward Embraces” as well as all local artists, writers, and actors.

The comedic web series, starring Jessica Mills, Lyndsey Doolen and Candis Phlegm, follows the dating adventures and mishaps of three geeky Los Angeles girls looking for love.

“We feel that it’s important to support local artists because Comikaze is about embracing Los Angeles culture,” said Regina Carpinelli CEO of Comikaze. “Our event is not designed solely for industry people and the hardcore fans, this is a community event. It’s an eclectic mix of geek culture and the Los Angeles lifestyle; we’re creating a red carpet geek event.”

Proceeds from the premier party will benefit Gamers United, a charity that donates games and comic books to local children’s hospitals. Guests are asked to bring a new comic book, video game or $10 donation to contribute to this cause.

“Partnering with Gamers United allows us to help children in need while spreading our love of gaming and comic books,” said Carpinelli.

Special guests in attendance will include avid gamer, actress and guest DJ Michelle Rodriguez, Indie 103.1 FM’s DJ Sara T., KXLU 88.9 FM’s DJ Bianca O’Blivion and Yahoo! Music’s Nicole Cifani, as well as the stars from “Akward Embraces,” Jessica Mills, Lyndsey Doolen and Candis Phlegm.

The event is open to the public and will begin at 8 p.m. Admission is free with a $10 donation, new comic book or video game. For tickets, please visit www.awkwardembraces2.eventbrite.com

About Awkward Embraces

The web series follows the dating adventures and misadventures of three L.A. girls who prove that just because a girl is hot, it doesn’t necessarily follow that she has a man, or even that she’d know what to do with one if she got one.  Jessica, the Star Trek/comic book geeky girl, seems to always say and do just the wrong thing at the wrong time to the wrong guy, proving that, “Nerdy girls need love, too.” More information about Awkward Embraces can be found at www.awkwardembraces.com
